softball.2013• The softball players get ready for the spring season with Fall Ball games and clinics at Cornerstone School.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Girls Softball League, established in 1973, has for many years been encouraging girls ages 4 to14 to play softball.
The League’s teams are currently playing Fall Ball and holding development clinics at the Cornerstone School fields in Rancho Palos Verdes. The clinics focus on the game’s basics: fielding, throwing and hitting.
Coaches will have player assessments in January, leading to the League’s spring season, which runs from February to mid-May.
Softball field are different than Little League fields, and pitching distance varies according to age. Girls age 8 and under pitch 30 feet from home plate. For girls 10 and under the distance is 35 feet, 12 and under it’s 40 feet, and for age 14 and under girls it’s 43 feet.
Cheering and support are always part of girls’ softball games.
softball FallBall.2018 7388The PV League teams play other teams from the South Bay, such as Redondo Sunset, San Pedro, El Segundo, Redondo Beach and even teams from Montebello.
The League expects more than 200 girls to participate on about 20 teams for the spring season.
Traditionally, the girls have great fun and cheer and dance throughout the games. The girls have cheer circles in supporting their teammates. The coaches are encouraging and join the girls in the fun.
The league is exciting to watch and includes players with all different skill levels. League coaches create a joyful environment for first-time players to learn in.
The games have umpires and play interleague competition.
The spring season consists of games on Saturday and one practice during the week.
