• The Palos Verdes High cross country team had another excellent showing at the state championships.

The Palos Verdes Sea Kings cross country team competed in the State Championship in Fresno Nov. 27, with two members of the boys’ team finishing in the Top 10.

Senior Luke Stefanou finished the 3.12-mile course in a speedy time of 15 minutes 23 seconds on a cool, 55-degree windless day. The time gave him 7th place in the pack of 50 participants. Senior William Kirk finished not far behind with a time of 15 minutes 28 seconds, earning him the number 9 spot.

I asked William what his mindset was before the race, “My mind was pretty calm, I felt good, and I had a good breakfast.”
When asked for comment after the race, William said, “I couldn’t ask for a better high school cross country experience with an amazing team. “
The Sea Kings are traveling to Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut for the Foot Locker West Region Race.
