PEN Volleyball Wants Strong Finish
• Peninsula High boys’ volleyball is ready for a strong end to its season.
Peninsula High volleyball is looking to finish its season strong these upcoming weeks. The Panthers are 18-7 and right in the thick of their Bay League schedule.
Peninsula needs to rebound from losses to Mira Costa and Redondo Union with strong performances against Inglewood and Valencia.
Peninsula has plenty of star power with three college commited players, including outside hitters Akim Akinwumi, Erick Boisvert and Zach Brill. Brill and Bosivert are both captains this season and are headed to UC Merced and Concordia University, respectively.
Another bright spot for the Panthers has been sophomore outside hitter Clarke Godbold. He started as a freshman and says his team has grown significantly this season.
‘’Everyone on our team has grown in some part of their game. Whether It’s been mental or physical there has been improvement this year for sure,” Godbold said.
Godbold also has his eyes set on a match with rival Palos Verdes May 1 in the regular season finale. Palos Verdes narrowly beat Peninsula in their first team matchup.
According to junior outside hitter John Skoblar, what has helped this team play well is the closeness of the team off the court. “We bond by having fun off the court and just being able to talk to each other,” Skoblar said.
