Charity League Honors 2019 Ticktockers
• National service club honors local young women for service and dedication.
National Charity League, Inc., Palos Verdes Chapter, honored the Ticktocker Class of 2019 at its annual Senior Recognition at Terranea Resort.
This signature event recognized the cumulative efforts and accomplishments of graduating Ticktockers as Chapter and community leaders.
Celebrating a six-year journey of community service, leadership development and cultural experiences, this annual tradition also serves as a congratulatory pause for the Chapter as a whole to reflect upon the service that led to this accomplishment of developing strong women leaders who will serve and impact communities throughout the country.
This year’s theme, “Never Stop Exploring,” offered an old-world vintage travel experience for honorees and guests. Complete with a vintage car at the front entrance, the event featured flowers by Sadna’s Florist and musical entertainment by SpotlightLA.
“As these ladies prepare to graduate from high school and move into the world, new adventures await them at every turn,” said Aimee Gesseck, Palos Verdes Chapter president. “May they never lose their spirit of adventure and never stop exploring.”
Jessica and Ana Romero were presented with the Mother/Daughter Award for their commitment to each other and to our community. Over the last six years they worked a total of 446 hours together as a mother and daughter pair.
Jessica also received the Senior Service Award for volunteering more than 995 hours during her six years as a Ticktocker. This exceptional and dedicated young woman was a teacher assistant at Miraleste Early Learning Academy, prepared and served dinners at Toberman Neighborhood Center, and was a Bingo caller at Belmont Village Assisted Living Communities.
“There are very few opportunities in life similar to that of what NCL offers,” said Morgan Brandmeyer, president, Ticktocker Class of 2019. “Not only does NCL grant us the platform to safely embark on self-discovery through service, but it supplements the self-discovery with relationships that are positive and supportive.”
As part of a time-honored NCL tradition, graduating Ticktockers wore white dresses as a symbol of new beginnings and fresh opportunities. They also carried nosegay, a symbol of natural beauty, in recognition of the beautiful hearts, minds and souls these young ladies possess.
Palos Verdes Chapter members enthusiastically offer their time and compassion to 36 philanthropies in the South Bay and greater Los Angeles area. Ticktockers, ages 12-18, very much appreciate the opportunity to serve their community through hands-on work with organizations such as Peace4Kids, Friendship Foundation, Toberman Neighborhood Center, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor, Peninsula Education Foundation, Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Heal the Bay, Valmonte Early Learning Academy, and more.
This past year the Chapter provided more than 18,600 volunteer hours – 10,450 philanthropy hours and 8,165 league hours.

National Charity League, Inc., Palos Verdes Chapter, currently has more than 400 Members and provides hands-on volunteer service for 36 philanthropic organizations in the community.
